The participant from Lleida has been chosen from the six teams that have played in the first league of League of Legends Wild Rift in Lleida, a sports competition developed entirely in Catalan and organized by Paeria and Gamesports Lleida

Ten influencers and pro players played the Wild Rift Cup competition in real time today and in different locations (Lleida, Barcelona and Madrid), played entirely using 5G technology. Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital), Telefónica and MEDIAPRO (via LVP) have presented this morning at MWC22 the 5G Gaming Arena project with the aim of demonstrating the capabilities of the 5G network applied to the eSports and gaming sector. Through two demonstrations - 5G Wild Rift Cup, focusing on the popular Riot Games mobile game; and Dirt 5 Time Trials Challenge, which focuses on cloud gaming - has been confirmed as the higher bandwidth, network speed and low latency provided by this technology make gaming experiences much more attractive. and enable more powerful social interaction functions.

This competition took place simultaneously in four different locations: the MWCapital and Telefonica stands from the MWC22 site, the Movistar eSports Center in Madrid and the LAB 5G laboratory of the Lleida Chamber of Commerce. Ten prominent influencers took part, such as Manute and Jackie, and various proplayers who faced off in a League of Legends: Wild Rift game, one of the most popular mobile video games of the moment, with terminals connected to the conventional 5G network. In Lleida, the chosen participant, Rafa Escribà Vallés, played from LAB 5G in the 5G Area of ​​Ponent. Escribà, a member of the Howl Esports team, has been part of one of the six teams that have played, from 17 to 26 February, the first League of Legends Wild Rift in the capital of Segrià, a competition organized by the Paeria and Gamesports Lleida.

During the match, the president of the Lleida Chamber of Commerce, Jaume Saltó, stated that "the 5G Lab in Ponent has become an instrument for revitalizing Lleida's technological ecosystem and putting Lleida's technology companies on the Catalan map".

For her part, the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Presidency, Jordina Freixanet, highlighted the existing collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and Lleida City Council in its commitment to technology and highlighted the initiative. de la Paeria in organizing the first League of Legends Wild Rift: “From Lleida City Council we have organized an online sports league developed entirely in Catalan that has been a success in terms of participation. This fact reaffirms our desire to promote digitalization, also in areas aimed at young people, while supporting companies specializing in the development of new digital applications. "

This Tuesday’s initiative is driven by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, ​​Telefónica and Mediapro; with the collaboration of Riot Games, Microsoft, Samsung, Sirt and Indescat, and the support of the Department of Digital Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Àreas 5G initiative.
