Science Park of Lleida and the University Duisburg-Essen will work together to develop applications for Smart Cities in the social


The mayor of Lleida and president of Park Consortium, Angel Ros, signed at the fair CEBIT Hannover agreement of collaboration that will advance innovation in this field

Lleida 's mayor and president of the Science Park Consortium Angel Ros signed at the fair CEBIT Hannover agreement with the center UBICITEC (European Center for Ubiquitous Technologies and Smart Cities), University of Duisburg- Essen Germany established working together for the implementation of studies and projects for collaboration in research and development of advanced applications that contribute to the implementation of Smart Cities, especially in the social sphere.

This agreement recognizes that the Science Park of Lleida develops projects for implementation of advanced technologies in the field of food and Information Technology and has "a large capacity limitation, dissemination, visualization and implementation of technology solutions to service of productive land and the whole society."

UBICITEC is an international research led by Professor Pedro Jose Marron whose main objective is to establish a World Centre of Excellence on Smart Cities and Ubiquitous Technologies. Among his achievements is also included leading the development of technology platforms to cooperate internationally to improve the transfer of knowledge and technologies by means of start-ups and cooperation with industry.

The agreement between the Science Park and the University of Duisburg- Essen will improve the competitiveness of companies in the Science Park, the city and area businesses and by improving systems developed in different areas of process, communications, accessibility and usability with special attention to the social field.

The PCB will identify projects related to the field of new technologies and promote the development of their applications between companies and research groups in the park. At the same time, direct action and implementation of specific projects in the productive and service innovation and Smart Cities.

Meanwhile UBICITEC propose courses of action and studies to explore and evaluate joint projects.

The University of Duisburg- Essen, created in 2003 through the merger of two campuses that take the names of two German cities with more than 37,000 students from 130 different countries and is among the best in the world. His main areas of interest are nanoscience, biomedical, urban systems, education and the study of changes in contemporary societies.
